Violin:

French Violin by Chipot, Mirecourt, c.1900 - Try in the UK

Precio: £5,000
A French Chipot violin made in Mirecourt c.1900. It was made when Fourier Magnie was the owner of this workshop. The LOB is 359mm.

The violin is of extremely high quality in both the use of tonewood and the woodworking. It's been set up for professional playing - This includes new fitted ebony pegs, bridge & post cutting, and the fingerboard & nut have been reshaped for correct comfort.

Tone - The violin has a great mix of warmth, complexity and focus, and is very capable of soloist playing. The response & balance across the strings is also enjoyable.

History - This name of making started with J.B. Chipot, and continued through his son, Paul. After Paul's death, the name and rights to this line of instrument making were bought and eventually owned by the Laberte firm in Mirecourt. Fourier Magnie also partnered with the Laberte firm in 1915, however the violin seems to be made before this.

All questions are welcome, and you can try this violin in London, Essex, etc!
