This cello was made by Urs W. Mächler in 2024. It is based on the Matteo Goffriller model, inspired by the instrument used by Gautier Capuçon. The design reflects the traditional Venetian tonal concept while incorporating modern precision in craftsmanship and playability.
The instrument has a body length of 752 mm and a string length of 690 mm (nut to bridge), offering a comfortable playing experience without sacrificing resonance or projection.
It features a carefully selected spruce top and a highly figured two-piece maple back. The varnish is a red-brown finish over a golden ground, applied in a subtly antiqued style.
