Beautiful and exceptionally well-preserved five-string double bass by Hawkes & Son, ideal for professional orchestral use. Located in Markneukirchen, Germany.
Professionally restored two years ago and in unusually fine condition for a Hawkes & Son instrument, with no significant cracks. Original internal bracing retained; only the bass bar has been replaced.
Made from fine spruce and bird’s-eye maple, with a powerful, projecting orchestral sound. Professionally converted to five strings.
Offered with two certificates: an older English certificate and a new German certificate by luthier Marko Ackert.
