Professor of Conducting

The position is a permanent 80 percent appointment and will be available from August 1, 2026. For applicants who prefer more time for their own performance work or for other reasons wish for a reduced position, the workload can be negotiated between 60 and 80 percent. The field of work is conducting.
Teaching and Supervision
The teaching and supervision responsibilities include courses within the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, in accordance with the current curriculum. Teaching will be provided through both individual supervision and group instruction. The position may also include supervision responsibilities at the Ph.D. level.
The appointee is expected to take responsibility for organizing their own teaching and to utilize digital resources for planning and preparing lessons, as well as for communication with students and colleagues. The Academy uses Canvas (for teaching) and Teams (for academic collaboration).
The appointee is also expected to take the initiative to plan and lead seminars and courses within their field in collaboration with other faculty members at the institution. Additionally, they will participate in the preparation and execution of the Academy’s entrance exams and final assessments.
Research and Development Work
The Professor in Conducting is expected to maintain a high artistic level, primarily through personal artistic practice and participation in research and development (R&D) projects. The appointee is also expected to actively contribute to strengthening the R&D work and academic environment at the Academy, collaborating on projects with the institution’s performance and creative disciplines as well as with relevant external partners, in line with the Academy’s strategic goals.
The R&D resources allocated to the position are expected to be used systematically and primarily directed toward institutionally relevant projects.
