The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus/Aalborg/Holstebro (RAMA) in Denmark is seeking a Professor of Cello for the Classical Department in Aarhus, with appointment starting on January 1, 2026.
RAMA is seeking a Professor who will actively contribute to the development of the cello programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for training cellists at the highest level in principal study, instrumental pedagogy, chamber music, and ensemble playing. The position also includes opportunities for research/artistic and pedagogical development.
The professor will lead the string faculty group at the Academy and spearhead its development, including talent development initiatives and pipeline efforts both nationally and internationally.
Chamber music is a strategic focus area for RAMA. The cello professor will be responsible for string-specific chamber music, including work with exceptionally talented students.
RAMA aims to strengthen collaboration across its composing/songwriting, jazz/pop/rock, and classical programmes. The professor is expected to be open to interdisciplinary cooperation across all departments.
In collaboration with other faculty and the Academy’s leadership, the professor will contribute to the overall development of the classical programmes.
The classical orchestral programmes are based at RAMA Aarhus, where daily teaching takes place. However, since RAMA has departments in Aarhus, Aalborg, and Holstebro, the professor is expected to participate in activities such as chamber music, projects, and meetings across all locations.
Working hours will be arranged in agreement with the Rector and the Head of Studies.

The Academy offers a broad spectrum of programmes in classical, jazz/pop/rock, and composing/songwriting music at bachelor’s, master’s, and advanced postgraduate levels. RAMA also functions as a cultural hub, hosting numerous concert
