About the band
The Nu-Groove Brass Band is all about collective groove, big sound and shared energy. Drawing on the traditions of New Orleans brass bands and the feel of hip hop, soul and R ‘n’ B, it’s a street-parade-inspired band where ensemble playing, rhythm and feel come first.
The band is part of Make Music Adults and brings together bass, drums and percussion, woodwind and brass players to make music that swings, stomps and moves.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for a leader to guide the band week to week, helping players grow in confidence, skill and togetherness. The main focus of the role is developing strong ensemble playing, encouraging improvisation in a space that feels safe and supportive, and supporting players to build their individual technique.
You’ll be someone who enjoys leading groups of adults, knows how to balance structure with freedom, and can help players feel comfortable taking musical risks. You’ll shape sessions that are focused but relaxed, challenging but welcoming.
Sound like your kind of gig? We’d love to hear from you!
