Announces an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) Faculty Position
VOICE FACULTY, TENOR PREFERRED
RANK/SALARY: Assistant Professor, career-line (lecturer). Salary commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and experience.
DUTIES: (1) Teach voice lessons for students seeking lessons, doctoral through non-majors, in a variety of styles including classical, and musical theater or jazz; (2) Teach voice-related courses, especially vocal pedagogy. Additional courses may include diction and vocal literature; (3) Develop long-term relationships with local professional organizations, local public schools, private teachers, and NATS to enhance the recruitment and retention of voice students; (4) Advise masters and doctoral students; (5) Work to adapt curriculum to address the current needs of the voice area to best serve its students; (6) Assist the voice area coordinator with administrative duties such as coordinating voice area juries, auditions, performances, and recruiting initiatives. The ideal candidate is a tenor, an experienced teacher of individual voice lessons expert in teaching a modern, science-informed vocal pedagogy, and one who has demonstrated a strong, national performing reputation.
The candidate appointed to this position will report to the Director of the School of Music.
QUALIFICATIONS: (1) A master’s degree or equivalent education and experience is required. A doctorate is preferred; (2) demonstrated evidence of successful voice lesson teaching at the collegiate level in the classical style and at least one of the following: musical theater or jazz; (3) demonstrated evidence of professional vocal performance; (4) the ability to teach multiple subjects in the voice area including vocal pedagogy, diction, and vocal literature.
