Acting Artistic Coordinator

The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is looking for an organised, collaborative and proactive Acting Artistic Coordinator to support the planning and delivery of ASO performances and our learning and community programs.

Working closely with the Artistic Planning Manager, Learning and Community Programs Manager and wider Artistic team, this role provides coordination and administrative support across artist logistics, contracts, rehearsal schedules, planning systems, learning and community activities, and event delivery.

Strong communication skills, a warm, professional approach and a commitment to accuracy, will help build relationships across the organisation with musicians and administration colleagues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating artist contracts, travel, accommodation and related logistics across program and concert activity.
  • Preparing rehearsal schedules, itineraries and performance information.
  • Maintaining accurate information in orchestral planning systems.
  • Providing administrative support for budgets, invoicing, reimbursements and project costings.
  • Supporting the delivery of workshops, masterclasses, pre-concert talks, open rehearsals and learning and community programs.
  • Acting as primary contact for Learning and Community program queries.
  • Attending concerts, rehearsals and events as required to support artists, conductors and contributors.

ABOUT YOU:

We’re interested in hearing from people who are proactive, organised and adaptable, and have a genuine interest in orchestral music. Strong communication skills, and a warm, professional approach will build relationships across the organisation with musicians and administration colleagues, guest artists and external partners.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Experience providing efficient coordination and administrative support.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Experience in an arts organisation or similar environment.
  • Knowledge or appreciation of orchestral repertoire and the classical music sector.'
  • A collaborative, flexible and solutions-focused approach.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular evening and weekend work will be required to attend and support ASO events and performances.
  • The successful candidate will be required to hold or obtain a satisfactory Working with Children Check before commencing employment.
  • Some travel with the orchestra may be required, mainly within South Australia.

POSITION INFORMATION:

This position is being offered on a on a full-time (1FTE), fixed term contract from July 2026 to July 2027, to cover a secondment due to parental leave. The full-time equivalent salary range is $65,000-$74,000 per annum. Copies of the position description are available upon request via employment@aso.com.au.
