Research Retreats revolve around an exhibition at Dat Bolwerck, the renowned arts center in Zutphen. This unique setting creates a space where music and fine art come together in an inspiring dialogue.
As a cellist or composer, you arrive in Zutphen after a period of careful preparation. In this Research Retreat of 4 immersive days, you collaborate intensively with fellow composers, musicians and a dedicated team of mentors—experienced composers and cellists—who guide you in refining your work.
The retreat culminates in the Research Performance, where the artists introduce their work, setting the stage. After that, the musicians take the floor, bringing their vision on the theme to life through sound.
With Jeroen den Herder (cello), Arnold Marinissen (composition), Arjan Linker (composition, trombone, improvisation) and Hua-Hsuan Lee (piano).
