MA in Classical String Performance

The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance's MA in Classical String Performance is led by Principal players of the Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO).
The course also facilitates encounters with ICO visiting artists e.g. Henning Kraggerud, Carolin Widmann & Kristian Bezuidenhout, and MA students can qualify for a place on the ICO’s Apprenticeship scheme by audition.
The unique focus of this 2-year, full-time course is developing embodied, holistically integrated musicians. Intensive instruction in practices such as yoga, Body Mapping and Improvisation; and classes in Dalcroze, Baroque & New Music are integral to the programme. Students receive weekly individual lessons, chamber music, technique- and performance classes & orchestral training from ICO Principals.
A high-quality modern violin and viola, & Baroque bows are available for student use.
