Students can qualify for a place on the Irish Chamber Orchestra’s Apprenticeship scheme by audition, and the course facilitates encounters with ICO visiting artists e.g. Henning Kraggerud, Carolin Widmann & Kristian Bezuidenhout. The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance's MA in Classical String Performance is led by Principal players of the ICO: students receive weekly individual lessons, chamber music, technique- and performance classes & orchestral training.
The unique focus of this 2-year course is developing embodied, holistically integrated musicians. Intensive instruction in practices e.g. yoga, Body Mapping and Improvisation; and classes in Dalcroze, HIP & New Music are integral to the programme.
