One thing is for certain: this bow ist no featherweight, boasting 85.37 gr. & a forward centre of mass at 9.60"! For somebody with matching physical proportions, a lot of strength in the right arm/hand and/or a large cello, this bow might help realise their full potential.
Choice octagonal pernambuco wood; silver-mounted ebony frog with Parisian eye & two silver rings on the button.

Kurt SCHÄFFNER (1929‒2005) was an apprentice at the renowned H. R. PFRETZSCHNER's workshop from 1943 to 1946. After graduation, he continued to work for the PFRETZSCHNER workshop that H. R.'s sons, Richard Hermann & Berthold Walter, had taken over in 1914. In 1990, he opened his own workshop & carried on crafting coveted bows. In 1998, his son Dietmar ‒ representing the 5th generation ‒ followed in his footsteps.
