Vratsa Symphony Orchestra – Bass Trombone Position
The Vratsa Symphony Orchestra is seeking a skilled and motivated bass trombonist to join its brass section. Applicants should have advanced music education (bachelor’s or master’s degree), strong ensemble skills, and the ability to perform across various styles (classical to contemporary). Orchestral experience is preferred but not required.
AUDITION PROCESS:
1. Video Submission (Round 1):
Solo Piece (choose one):
- Lebedev Concerto in One Movement (Ostrander Edition) – up to Meno Mosso
- Sachse Konzertstück (Marc Reift Edition) – up to bar 64
Orchestral Excerpts (choose 3 of 5 provided, plus 3 of your own):
• Wagner, Lohengrin (from B till 2 bars before C & 6th bar of D till the end).
• Berlioz, Hungarian March from La Damnation de Faust (6 bars before number 20 till 2 bars berfore number 21).
• Brahms — Symphony No. 1, 4th movement (from C till the fermata).
• Tchaikovsky — Symphony No. 4, 4th movement (bar 38 till letter B)
• Schumann, 3th Symphony, Renish (from the beginning till the bar 8).
[ALL THE SCORES MENTIONED ARE PROVIDED IN THE PDF FILE OF THE AUDITION ANOUNCEMENT]
VIDEO: Must be recorded in one continuous take (no edits); good sound quality and full visibility of the performer are required. Upload unlisted YouTube links in your application. Piano accompaniment is optional, tuning A=440
2. Online Interview (Round 2):
Short video call (15–20 minutes) with orchestra representatives, focused on artistic vision, experience, and teamwork.
Conducted in English or Bulgarian.
3. Trial Period (Final Round):
Selected finalists will join the orchestra for a 2–6 week paid trial, including salary, flight, and accommodation.
Full participation in rehearsals, concerts, and recordings is required.
Evaluation based on performance, professionalism, and integration with the ensemble.
