Applications open: Monday 11 May 2026
Excerpts released for live auditions: Monday 29 June 2026, or four weeks prior to a confirmed recording date
Applications close: Monday 13 July 2026, 4pm
Final deadline for recorded submissions: Two days following a confirmed recording date, but no later than Tuesday 14 July 2026
Audition date: Monday 27 July 2026

This position is open to international candidates. If applicants are unable to travel to Hobart, the TSO will accept recorded auditions. Position available from January 2027.

Audition Requirements

All set works to be performed with piano accompaniment. Please note that TSO tunes to A=440.

• 1st round Mozart concerto 1st movement exposition and cadenza, AND
• 2nd round Strauss 1st movement up to figure 5, AND
• 3rd round Strauss 2nd movement opening till figure 24 then cadenza till first beat of Vivace, AND
• All orchestral excerpts
