Hiring Procedure
The recruitment process takes place through a competition scheduled for March 24 and 25, 2026, at 09:00 at Slesvigske Musikhus, Louisevej 7a, 6100 Haderslev.
The competition consists of the following rounds:
Round 1 (with piano):

Round 2 (with piano):
Sheet music will be sent immediately upon request to: arkivar@smukmusik.dk
Round 3 (with orchestra):
Sheet music will be sent after the application deadline.
Rounds 1 and 2 will be played behind a screen.
Accompanists will be provided for both rounds (one classical and one jazz).
Immediately after the application deadline, the jury will select and invite a number of applicants to participate in the competition.
Sheet music for the 3rd round will be sent together with the invitation. Interviews with suitable candidates will be conducted after the competition.
About Us
The Schleswig Regiment of Foot Band of the Royal Danish Army – commonly known as SMUK – is one of the Danish Armed Forces' three full-time professional music corps. It consists of 16 musicians, including brass players and percussionists.
The band is organizationally part of the Schleswig Regiment of Foot and is based daily at the Schleswig House of Music (Slesvigske Musikhus) in Haderslev.
Terms of Employment
Employment and salary are in accordance with the current organizational agreement for musicians and conductors in the Danish Armed Forces of May 28, 2025, between the Ministry of Defence Personnel Agency, the Central Organization of 2010 (CO10), and the Association of Musicians in the Armed Forces.
Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is the possibility of negotiating supplements. In addition, there is a full employer-funded pension scheme.
The positions are full-time with employment starting August 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. Permanent employment occurs after a one-year probationary period.
