Emerging Musicians Fellowship 2026/27 (Double Bass)

In the 2027-28 season, we'll welcome four Fellowship Musicians into the heart of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for five periods of work spread across the year. Following an induction, Fellowship Musicians will rehearse and perform alongside the Orchestra for three intensive week-long patches. During that time, they’ll also take part in musical and non-musical training, as well as our Learning & Health programmes throughout the year.

The Emerging Musicians Fellowship is a development opportunity for emerging orchestral musicians, offering a paid immersive experience with a fee of £2,750.

Who it's for

The programme is perfect for musicians who are performing at the standard required to play in a professional orchestra and wish to pursue orchestral music performance but are not yet established in an orchestral career.

This may include musicians who are:

· In part- or full-time higher education

· Recently out of higher education

· Considering a career change into orchestral work

There's no upper age limit.

Instruments we're auditioning

· Strings: Cello, Double Bass, Harp

· Woodwind: Oboe, Cor Anglais, Clarinet, Eb Clarinet & Bass Clarinet

· Brass: Trombone, Bass Trombone & Tuba

Applicants can apply for more than one instrument if appropriate. We'll only offer a maximum of one place per instrument.
