Cello Bow:

Rare opportunity: beautiful German master cello bow, made ca. 1930 by Friedrich (aka 'Fritz') Meinel

Prezzo: € 3,300.-
From my private collection, significantly below average retail prices: silver-mounted German cello bow in fine condition, made ca. 1930 by Friedrich "Fritz" MEINEL (1885‒1962). Its round pernambuco stick’s elasticity, yet adequate firmness, produce effortless, versatile playing characteristics and impressive sound projection ‒ on a par with much more expensive French bows. Previously owned by a Gewandhausorchester Leipzig cellist.

■ weight: 79.6 gr.
■ length of stick: 696 mm
■ total length: 712 mm
■ centre of mass: 8.94 in

Friedrich was a student of W. A. PFRETZSCHNER, and he worked with Franz A. NÜRNBERGER II in Markneukirchen for many years (cf. last image of MEINEL in the Nürnberger workshop; courtesy of Christian A. Nürnberger). From 1918, he successfully ran his own workshop.
