Singing Tutor
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Singing Tutor with an enthusiastic and inclusive approach to educating young musicians. The successful candidate will be able to support students across a range of styles, including classical, musical theatre and more contemporary or popular vocal styles. They will have a strong technical understanding, good vocal health awareness, and the ability to teach across a broad range of ages and abilities.
Estill Voice Training, or another recognised vocal methodology, would be desirable, as would good keyboard skills.
Our music centre is based at Morley College, near London Waterloo, and teaching takes place on 10 Saturdays per term.
This role is offered on a self-employed contract and is expected to involve a minimum of 4 hours’ work on Saturdays, with the possibility of a fuller day depending on student numbers. The timetable is expected to include individual singing tuition, with the possibility of leading a choir or vocal group, depending on the successful candidate’s experience and departmental needs.
CYM offers music provision to talented young people from all backgrounds in a thriving musical environment. As a Centre for Advanced Training under the Department for Education’s National Grant for Music and Dance, CYM is a key provider of instrumental, vocal and ensemble tuition in London. Our Saturday school and holiday courses offer a sustained and progressive route from the early stages of learning through to music college entrance. Children start on our primary years programme (age 5 upwards) progressing to the full programme (aged 8 to 18).
