Through four decades of dedicated development, SZSO has widely recognized amongst China’s pre-eminent professional orchestras. The orchestra is under the baton of Music Director Daye Lin.
Since 1987, SZSO has maintained regular concert tours throughout China and internationally, with performances spanning Asia, Europe, North America and Africa. The orchestra has graced venues across the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, India, Romania and South Africa, establishing itself as Shenzhen’s flagship cultural showcase.
SZSO has graced at major festivals including: China National Arts Festival (4th edition), China International Piano Competition (3rd edition), World Buddhist Forum Inaugural Concert, Beijing Modern Music Festival, National Centre for the Performing Arts Festival; alongside Istanbul Music Festival (Turkey), Mittelfest, Ravello Wagner Festival, Caserta Benevento Festival, Bellini Festival Sicily (Italy), Dinard Music Festival (France), and Romanian International Radio Music Festival.
Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra champions contemporary Chinese symphonic repertoire, commissioning and premiering works that articulate China’s cultural narratives. Acclaimed productions include Symphonic Overture for a New Era, Ode to Heroes, My Motherland, Ode to Humanity, Harmony of the Divine Land, Symphonic Folk Songs: New Hakka Rhythms, and co-commissions Rising Sun in the East, The Light of Mind and A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains – all garnering widespread critical acclaim.
SZSO continues to scale artistic heights whilst promoting Chinese cultural heritage and contemporary expression, making significant contributions to Shenzhen’s cultural landscape within the Greater Bay Area initiative.
