Freelance Percussion & Timpani
The Opera Australia Orchestra is based in Sydney, primarily at the Sydney Opera House, and performs around 300 shows per year with OA and The Australian Ballet.
Most players invited to work with the OAO are based in Sydney.
If you reside interstate or overseas, while the orchestra will hear your audition please know you are unlikely to be engaged unless you are Sydney based. Please consider this before you apply to audition.
If you have questions regarding the freelance audition process, please contact the Orchestra Management team at orchestra.auditions@opera.org.au. If you prefer a phone call, please specify and include your number in the application form.
The Audition will be held on Tuesday, 17 February 2026. Individual times will be scheduled closer to the date.
