Visiting Asst Professor- Director of Orchestral Studies

Principle Duties: The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the Orchestral Studies program, rehearse/perform with University Symphony, teach undergraduate and graduate level conducting courses, conducting seminar, score reading and analysis, and symphonic literature and provide mentorship of graduate conducting students in their respective recitals and final projects/thesis. Other responsibilities may be assigned as departmental need and load dictate.

Qualifications: Terminal degree in music required (DMA, DA or PhD). Candidates who are ABD with May/August 2024 graduation dates will be considered. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in conducting, teaching, and student mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students in the large ensemble. The candidate is expected to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds and possess communication and interpersonal skills to work with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.

Start Date: The date of first consideration is March 21, 2024 and will continue until the position is filled. Expected start date is August 12, 2024
