Full-time position for Solo bassoon and bassoon (Tutti) orchestra players

Open Audition

State Opera Plovdiv announces open auditions for two full‐time positions: one for a Solo Bassoonist and one for a Bassoon (Tutti) Orchestra Player.

Requirements for Applicants:

Completed higher or secondary music education.

Experience in ensemble performance.

The audition will take place on 9 June 2025 in the Chamber Hall at the House of Culture “Boris Hristov,” Plovdiv.

Audition Repertoire:

Concerto for Bassoon by W.A. Mozart – Solo part

A solo piece of your choice (with or without accompaniment)

Orchestral Excerpts for Bassoon (Tutti):

Mozart – The Marriage of Figaro, Overture

Tchaikovsky – Symphony No. 5, 3rd Movement

Rimsky‑Korsakov – Scheherazade, Part 2

Rossini – La gazza ladra, Overture

Rossini – The Barber of Seville, Overture

Ravel – Piano Concerto No. 2, 3rd Movement

Orchestral Excerpts for the Solo Bassoon Position:

Ravel – Boléro

Shostakovich – Symphony No. 9, 4th Movement

Sheet music for the orchestral excerpts will be provided upon request. All works are performed with piano accompaniment.
