1st Principal Cellist
As 1st Principal Cellist in the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, you will play a central role as leader of the cello section and as an active chamber musician. In addition to performing core string orchestra repertoire, the position offers opportunities to engage with symphonic works and chamber music at the highest artistic level, while also participating in audience engagement activities and community-based projects.

Audition Repertoire:
1. Joseph Haydn: Cello Concerto No. 2 in D major, Hob. VIIb:2 – First movement with cadenza(s) and the second movement
2. One of the following concertos (first movement):
- Antonín Dvořák: Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104, B. 191
- Robert Schumann: Cello Concerto in A minor, Op. 129
3. One movement (excluding a Prelude) from J. S. Bach’s Cello Suites Nos. 1–4
4. Orchestral and chamber music excerpts
The orchestral excerpts will be sent as a PDF file to candidates invited to the audition after the application period has ended.
Candidates are encouraged to use their own accompanist. If necessary, a pianist provided by the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra will be available for the audition. No rehearsal with the orchestra’s pianist will be arranged in advance.
The audition process may include an interview.
