Principle cello

Sofia Philharmonic announces an audition for the position of Principal Cello, one permanent position, with the National Philharmonic Orchestra at the Bulgaria Concert Hall Complex, Sofia, Bulgaria.

The position is based on a work schedule under a summarized calculation of working time, with an 8-hour working day and a five-day working week.

Applicants must hold at least a secondary music education diploma.

Gross monthly salary: EUR 1,800.

The audition for shortlisted candidates will take place before an audition committee on 14 September 2026.

The audition will be held with piano accompaniment. Upon request, the Sofia Philharmonic can provide candidates with the contact details of an accompanist. Any fees for the accompanist's services shall be borne by the candidate.

Johann Sebastian Bach – One fast movement and one slow movement from the Cello Suites (without repeats).
Joseph Haydn – Cello Concerto in D major, First Movement, with cadenza.
Antonín Dvořák – Cello Concerto in B minor, First Movement.
Orchestral Excerpts
Franz von Suppé – Overture to Poet and Peasant.
Johannes Brahms – Piano Concerto No. 2, Third Movement.
Gioachino Rossini – Overture to William Tell.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky – Cello Solo from Swan Lake.
