Cello:

Jacobus Stainer 1663 (per label) German antique cello with beautiful sound

Prix: 46,900 USD
This is a beautiful antique cello with an interior label stating it was made by Jacobus Stainer in 1663. Almost definitely German, probably made by a Stainer assistant in the mid-late 1600's. The cello is in very good condition with a beautiful sound. Below is a recent musical evaluation by Mr. Ronald Lowry, principal cellist of the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Boston Ballet.

"“The lion’s head cello has a beautiful warm, full, and surprisingly strong tone. I think it would be of great help to professionals and to aspiring young artists. It is responsive in all dynamic ranges and offers potential of many varied colors. I enjoy playing it very much!" -- and has said he would like to borrow it occasionally!
The cello is fitted with new high-quality metal strings, has a summer and winter bridge. A Hiscox hard case, and a Coda carbon-fiber bow (it deserves a much better bow) are available for sale separately. The cello is available for examination and trial in Brookline Massachusetts.
Certification: The cello was certified for insurance purposes in 2018 for a replacement value of $50,000.
