The Institute for Theory and History (ITG) is seeking to fill the following position from 01.03.2026

Senior Lecturer for Acoustics (f/m/d)

Your duties
You teach the "Acoustics" courses, particularly in the artistic and artistic-pedagogical Bachelor's degree programs. The course content includes:
Basic knowledge: Physical basics, musical acoustics, physiological acoustics (sound perception, information processing in the brain, psychoacoustics etc.)
Historical sound carrier development
Room acoustics (basics of geometric and statistical room acoustics, acoustic room design, acoustic concepts in comparison, acoustic analysis of concert rooms)
Instrumental acoustics
electroacoustic media (signal flow and components of a sound system, analog vs. digital technology, comparison of recording methods)
You are obliged to participate in academic self-administration

Your profile

Conditions of employment
domestic or equivalent foreign higher education qualification appropriate to the position
Outstanding pedagogical and didactic aptitude

Desired qualifications
relevant teaching experience at university level
Practical experience with musicians as clients (room acoustics, etc.)
Publication activity
Willingness to cooperate and ability to work in a team
Very good knowledge of German (C1)
