The Phion Heersink Academy is the bridge between your education and the professional world of music. For the 2026–2027 season, we are looking for five talented musicians to join our Academy. As an Academy member, you will collaborate with renowned conductors, soloists, and experienced orchestra musicians.
If selected, this is your opportunity to take part in symphonic, opera, educational, and chamber music productions across Orkest Phion’s diverse repertoire.
Beyond the artistic experience, you will receive audition training, coaching and access to masterclasses and workshops.

All-in all, it’s a complete and valuable next step on your path toward a successful career as a professional musician.

Phion Symphony Orchestra & Phion Heersink Academy are looking for:

Academist viola
For approximately 10 weeks from august ’26- july ‘27

Position
The vacancy is for the position of Academist Viola.
As a member of our orchestra, you will regularly rehearse and perform in Arnhem and Enschede, and perform throughout Gelderland, Overijssel and beyond.

Profile
-You are not older than 27 years of age on 1 September 2026.
-You should preferably have completed your Master's degree at a conservatory, but it is also possible to apply if you will be in the second year of your Master's degree by September 2025.

-This vacancy is only open to EU citizens and citizens form Iceland, Switzerland, Norway and Liechtenstein (EEA), or other musicians already holding a non-temporary residence permit for the Netherlands with full work authorization (in that case, a copy of the work permit is necessary).
-You will be available for a minimum of ten weeks to participate in various productions that reflect Phion's programming.
