Royal Air Force Music Services started in 1920 with the foundation of the Central Band of the RAF and the Band of the RAF College. It's mission is "To provide optimum musical support for the Royal Air Force in order to enhance public perception, support State Ceremonial and achieve influence to further Defence and National interest".

Royal Air Force Music Services started in 1920 with the foundation of the Central Band of the RAF and the Band of the RAF College. It's mission is "To provide optimum musical support for the Royal Air Force in order to enhance public perception, support State Ceremonial and achieve influence to further Defence and National interest".

RAF Music currently consists of three full time military bands (The Central Band of the RAF; The Band of the RAF Regiment and The Band of the RAF College), as well as the RAF Salon Orchestra. It also incorporates a part-time band (The Band of the Royal Auxilliary Air Force).

Musicians employed by RAF Music can expect to perform as part of a symphonic concert band, and as a parade band, as well as part of numerous chamber groups formed by members of each band. RAF Music appears at many different events and venues, ranging from the Royal Albert Hall to Buckingham Palace, and graduation ceremonies on military parade grounds to perfromances in the UKs finest concert venues. It's ensembles encompass the full range of musical disciplines - Brass, Woodwind, Percussion and Strings - and can expect to play a diverse array of musical genres - Dance music, chamber repertoire, symphonic concerts, military marches and jazz, to name a few! Opportunities for travel and personal development are extensive.
