Introduction to Music Technology | Juilliard Extension
14 Sep - 14 Dec, 2026
This course introduces the compositional and production techniques essential for creating music in today’s evolving sonic landscape. Students will develop creative and technical skills in audio and MIDI sequencing, digital notation, sampling, synthesizer basics, digital sound recording, editing, and processing. Through weekly hands-on exercises, they will explore contemporary approaches to composition and arrangement across various musical genres. Classes are centered around practical software training and interactive group discussions, with a final project offering students an opportunity to integrate their newly acquired skills with their individual musical interests. This course is taught using Logic Pro, though faculty also have experience with Ableton, Pro Tools, and other digital audio workstations (DAWs).
