Durham Fellowship - Violin

The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle’s Durham Fellowships are open to all string players, with additional consideration given to qualified Black and Latino/a candidates. Fellows will perform with the orchestra, receiving professional training and experience on stage and in the pit, and will also take part in the COT’s UpClose Chamber Music Series and BEERthoven series. Fellows will dedicate much of their time as a string quartet, presenting to local students in the classroom, and will also take on minor administrative duties.

Details:
- 2 year contract with option for 3rd year renewal
- 9 month season (September - May)
- Residency in Durham is required during the season
- $40K Annual Salary + full Health Insurance
- Stipend for audition expenses and professional development

Programmatic Components:
- Partake in all COT orchestral performances both on stage and in the pit
- Receive intensive guidance in preparation and performance from COT Artists in Residence (Verona Quartet) and Guest Soloists
- Mock auditions
- Work with COT Education Coordinator to create and present community engagement and educational content
- Perform on UpClose Chamber Music Series and BEERthoven Series programs
- Assist with administrative tasks when needed

Eligibility:
- Applicants must have completed at least an undergraduate degree
- Applicants must be no younger than 22 years of age, and no older than 32 years of age upon applying for the Fellowship
- While not limited to, priority is given to qualified Black and Latino artists
- Fellows will be selected through a pre-screening and live audition process.
