Singer NKK NXT

Please note: we are looking for all types of voices, not solely soprano!

NKK NXT – launched in 2018 – is a developmental program where each year a new group of eight young professional singers is offered a job. These young professionals collectively explore what the choir concert of the future will look like. NKK NXT fosters their development as versatile ensemble singers, who, alongside the craft of singing together, also cultivate creativity, vision, and entrepreneurship. Participants not only learn about their voice, harmony, and ensemble singing but also about aspects preparing them for the future as ensemble singers, such as choreography and artistic development – skills that are indispensable for emerging artists. NKK NXT serves as a bridge between recently graduated singers or creators and the professional field: an opportunity to gain experience in the cultural sector, forge new connections, and develop their own artistic vision.

In recent years, the success of the program has been abundantly evident, resulting in magnificent performances and new paths to explore within choral music. For instance, NKK NXT 20/21 ventured into the intersection of classical music and pop during its tour WILDERNIS, featuring a performance by Wende Snijders. Additionally, in 2023, the choir collaborated with Froukje during the King's Night concert at the Concertgebouw. Former trainees are now employed as theater makers, conductors, or singers in professional ensembles.

What will you do?
You will become a co-creator in a new co-production of the Netherlands Chamber Choir. In the upcoming season, we will collaborate with NITE, Club Guy & Roni, HIIIT, and Asko Schönberg on the new production Nachtwacht, featuring composer Luke Dean. In addition to the time you dedicate to developing this production, you will receive coaching from the Netherlands Chamber Choir and various other leading experts.
