The Joensuu City Orchestra is a forward-thinking symphony orchestra of 35 musicians. Under the artistic direction of Jukka Untamala, the orchestra is known for its open-minded and diverse programming.

The Joensuu City Orchestra is inviting applications for the position of:

PRINCIPAL PERCUSSION

In this position, you will participate in orchestral, chamber music and outreach performances and maintain the high level of instrumental proficiency required by the orchestral repertoire. You will also be responsible for acquire assistants and substitute musicians needed for the percussion section. The role combines artistic expertise, organizational skills, and excellent collaboration and communication abilities. Success in this position requires the ability to as part of a team, manage a wide range of practical arrangements, and apply creativity effectively in varying situations.

If the selected candidate is a non-EU citizen, they must hold a valid work and residence permit at the commencement of employment.

The audition invitation and orchestral exerpts will be sent by email after the application deadline. Orchestral excerpts may be ordered in advance by contacting orkesteri@joensuu.fi.

Salary:

Monthly salary for the position is 3208,24-3464,90€, based on experience and instrument and concert attitre allowance.

Terms of employment are in accordance with the General Collective Agreement for Municipal Personnel (KVTES) and the Finnish Musicians’ Union Agreement (MuusikkoTES).

The position begins on January 7, 2027, or as agreed.

A job interview is part of the audition process. The job includes 6-month trial period.

The ochestra will not provide any compensation for travel, accommodation or any other expenses.
