Violin:

Paul Kaul, Nantes (France), 1910

Price: €15,000
Sample audio:
A fine violin by one of the most acomplished makers of the period. Paul Kaul was born in Mirecourt in 1875, he worked for Silvestre & Maucotel in Paris for five years from 1900 and eventually established his own atelier in Nantes in 1907. His instruments have received much praise over the years from professional players, both, for the great maturity of tone and the lustre of the transparent varnish. This is an outstanding work of Paul Kaul and has recently been estimated the value of €15,000, according to a renown dealer of fine violins and an expert in valuation restoration in Amsterdam, Andreas Post. The sound is powerful and the instrument is esthetically pleasing and in excellent condition. It has been in my property for 14 years now and normally maintained twice yearly. The instrument is very dear to me and I've played on it through the entire studies with a renown professor Boris Belkin. It has a good balance and handcrafted bridge, tailpiece and a tail. A truly beautiful work.
