From my collection: this bow in fine condition plays very well ‒ notably, firm, easily controllable strokes despite its light weight. Octagonally shaped, premium pernambuco, fully silver mounted ebony frog.

Edwin Lothar HERRMANN (1914‒1987) hailed from a storied dynasty of achetiers spanning over 200 years. At the height of his craft, his bows sold for as much as those of his now better-known French colleagues. HERRMANN learned his craft from his grandfather Franz Albert (1868‒1960) & his father Edwin Otto. After completing his apprenticeship, he continued to work with his father until 1950, when he opened his first workshop. In 1961 he moved to Markneukirchen, carrying on making highly sought-after bows.
