A fine French double bass by René Cune (Mirecourt), dated 1960, acquired directly from the renowned luthier Jean Auray (Lyon), who restored and optimised the instrument.
This fantastic bass combines power, projection and ease of playing. The response is immediate and effortless, producing a rich, singing tone under the bow while retaining warmth, depth and remarkable carrying power.
Exceptionally well balanced across the entire register, it offers excellent sustain, outstanding resonance and an even response throughout. Pizzicato, the sound is focused, clear and deeply resonant; arco, the instrument sings with a colourful, expressive voice and impressive dynamic range.
Equally suited to orchestral, chamber, jazz and solo playing.
