Manufactured in 1972, this instrument has only been played professionally in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Opera Australia Orchestra. It features two bells (Low A and Low C), 17 rollers and alternate E flat keys for left thumb and right index finger. It also has an alternate B flat key and an E-F# trill key. It comes supplied with a Heckel C1 bocal. The case has plenty of storage for accessories and it comes with wheels for ease of transport.
The instrument is in excellent condition for its age and has that unmistakable Heckel sound. The wait list for a new Heckel contrabassoon is approximately 15 years, this is a great opportunity to secure one immediately. It has been most recently professionally serviced in March 2026 by Tanya Campbell at Bassoon Factory. The instrument is available for testing in Sydney.
