Visiting Teacher of Singing
(hourly rate, permanent)
£41.36 p/hour
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced teachers to join a strong and successful Visiting Music Team, within a thriving Music Department.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• To teach individual singing lessons.
• To prepare pupils for internal and external exams, performances, competitions, and auditions.
• To coach for occasional activities, such as preparing soloists for services, concerts, and the school musical.
• The post-holder will be expected to deliver a minimum of thirty individual lessons per pupil in each academic year and may be invited to take on other duties, as outlined above, on an occasional or regular basis, depending on the needs of the College.
• The post-holder will be expected to write biannual reports on individual pupils and on pupils playing in ensembles under their direction, manage their own timetables with the support of the Music Administrator, maintain lesson record sheets, and report absences form lessons and rehearsals.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential
• Experienced teacher of individual music lessons.
• Professional performing experience with appropriate qualifications.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to build positive and professional working relationships with Music School colleagues.
• Demonstrates a supportive and empathetic approach when working with pupils and colleagues.
Desirable
• Experienced teacher of beginners and advanced pupils, including Grade 8 and beyond.
• Experience in supporting and developing adolescent changing voices.
• Proven experience in leading rehearsals and delivering high quality music workshops.
The College cannot guarantee a fixed number of teaching hours. As it stands, requirements will be in the region of 6/7 hours per week.
