HR Assistant

Royal College of Music

HR Assistant

(full-time, permanent)
(£32,321 - £35,381 p/year)

Founded in 1882, The Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. Our excellence was recognised by the 2026 QS World University Rankings, in which we were ranked as the global No. 1 institution in the UK and Europe, and second globally, for both Music and Performing Arts. The College has held global and second positions in Performing Arts for five successive years, while Music is a new subject introduced to the rankings in 2024.

We are recruiting a full-time, permanent HR Assistant to join a small generalist team. HR Assistants are the first point of contact for the HR office, answering routine queries and explaining the application of HR policies and processes. The HR Assistants are responsible for the administration of the recruitment process, preparing contractual paperwork, processing monthly payroll changes, and coordinating the delivery of learning and development opportunities.

It is essential that applicants are clear and confident communicators, able to answer routine queries and explain processes and procedures. Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office packages are essential.

Applicants must be skilled at managing a busy workload and balancing conflicting priorities whilst maintaining a high level of customer service and attention to detail.

Experience within HR, and particularly HR/payroll systems such as iTrent would be advantageous, and an awareness of employment legislation and an understanding of HR processes such as right to work checks, recruitment, and pensions administration would also be desirable.

This is a full-time role and the postholder will be expected to work onsite three days per week and from home two days per week.

This post is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and is available immediately.
