Monteux School & Music Festival: Summer Season 2024

Our intensive six-week program attracts musicians from across the United States and around the world. It offers conductors and instrumentalists an unparalleled opportunity to learn an extensive and varied repertoire, providing the training and practical experience needed for conducting and orchestral performance. Over the eight decades of our existence, we've trained thousands of conductors and instrumentalists. All musicians are full-time, active participants. Players rotate within their sections without leaving the orchestra. All conductors receive weekly rehearsal time on the podium and perform in concerts as directed by the Music Director. Conductors are also required to play in the orchestra, promoting a positive and non-competitive environment in which conductors and instrumentalists collaborate and learn together. Our rigorous weekly schedule, equivalent to that of a full-time orchestra, prepares musicians for professional careers.
