2024/2025 Hart Institute for Women Conductors

$2,500 p/year
The Dallas Opera is now accepting applications for the ninth Linda and Mitch Hart Institute for Women Conductors. The world’s first program designed to advance women opera conductors, the prestigious Hart Institute comprises two sessions in 2024/2025: daily virtual sessions (November 18–22, 2024), many of which are livestreamed and open for the public to view at no cost on The Dallas Opera’s YouTube channel or digital.dallasopera.org, and a nine-day intensive workshop in Dallas (January 17–25, 2025).

The experience provides conducting opportunities with The Dallas Opera Orchestra, seminars, roundtables, and sessions with renowned faculty and mentors from classical music and opera administration, as well as masterclasses with the acclaimed Mrs. Eugene McDermott Music Director of The Dallas Opera, Emmanuel Villaume, and TDO’s Principal Guest Conductor, Nicole Paiement (the music director of San Francisco’s award-winning Opera Parallèle). Topics include selecting the right artist manager, best practices in working with executive recruiters, opera management and fundraising, personal branding, media management, and more.
At the end of the program, each conductor will have access to a high-resolution video that shows her conducting full-length overtures, arias, and ensembles with The Dallas Opera Orchestra in the annual Hart Institute Showcase Concert, on January 25, 2025.

Applications for the 2024/2025 Hart Institute will be accepted until May 31, 2024 at 11:59pm CDT.
