Position Details:
• Position: 1st Solo Viola
• Start Date: As soon as possible or by agreement
• Employment Type: Permanent
• Workload: Full-time (100%)
• Location: Aalborg, Denmark
• Salary: According to current collective agreement
Audition Information:
• Audition Date: Wednesday, January 28, 2026

Audition Repertoire and Rounds:
Audition materials and orchestral excerpts will be made available no later than 2 months before the audition.
Round 1
One movement with cadenza and one movement without cadenza from either:
• Stamitz OR
• Hoffmeister
• Orchestral excerpts
Round 2
First movement of one of the following concertos:
• Bartók, Walton, or Hindemith
• Orchestral excerpts
Round 3
Orchestral excerpts only
Orchestral Excerpts (for all rounds may include):
• A. Adam: Giselle
• R. Strauss: Don Quixote
• M. Ravel: Ma Mère l’Oye
• G. Puccini: Manon Lescaut
• C.M. von Weber: Der Freischütz
• R. Strauss: Don Juan
• F. Mendelssohn: Scherzo from A Midsummer Night’s Dream
• D. Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5, Op. 100 – 1st movement
• A. Bruckner: Symphony No. 4 in E-flat Major
• W.A. Mozart: The Magic Flute – Overture
• C. Nielsen: Masquerade – Overture
Interview:
After the third round, an interview will be conducted. This conversation is a central part of the recruitment process, ensuring that the artistic and human values align between the candidate and Aalborg Symphony Orchestra’s vision and values.
