The Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra of Jackson Mississippi (MCO) is looking to appoint a new Music Director. Now in its 43rd season, MCO is the only all volunteer community orchestra serving central Mississippi. The orchestra is looking for a new music director to build on the past 40+ years of success and lead the ensemble into a vibrant future. The orchestra currently presents three concert cycles each year (fall, winter, and spring) with rehearsals in the Jackson metro area. MCO rehearses on Saturday mornings from 9:30 am -12:30
pm and holds its concerts on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 pm. Each concert cycle has three or four string sectionals and three or four general rehearsals.
Application Process
MCO will accept applications until January 31, 2026. Interviews will be held in February. Three finalists will be chosen; each finalist will rehearse and perform one concert during the 2026-2027. Finalists will receive financial compensation for the concert they conduct during the 2026-2027 season. The successful candidate will be chosen after the final concert of that season.
