The Royal Danish Theatre and Orchestra Seeks a Kapellmeister (Conductor)
(full-time, one-year)
The Royal Danish Theatre & Orchestra – Copenhagen, Denmark
The Royal Danish Theatre and the world-renowned Royal Danish Orchestra are seeking a Kapellmeister (Conductor) for a full-time, fixed-term position during the 2027/28 and 2028/29 seasons. Working closely with Chief Conductor Marie Jacquot, the Kapellmeister will lead rehearsals and performances across opera, ballet, concerts, operettas, and musicals, and coach singers in preparation for productions.
The role includes serving as first and/or second conductor on productions, contributing artistically to repertoire and interpretation, and collaborating with artistic teams across the Theatre. The position requires a strong presence in Copenhagen.
Qualifications:
Professional experience as a conductor
Broad repertoire knowledge and stylistic versatility
Ability to lead rehearsals independently and collaboratively
Strong communication skills and fluency in English; additional European languages are an asset
Employment:
Full-time appointment with salary and terms according to Danish state-sector agreements or individual negotiation.
