Musical assistant to chief conductor Groot Omroepkoor

In season 2026/27, the GOK continues with a program for assistant choir conductors to promote highly talented
young choral conductors, to support them in their musical and personal development and create strong ties with
them at an early stage of their careers.

Parameters for the Program
The musical assistant is a paid position. The program runs over one season with the possibility of extension for
a second year, starting August 2026. The musical assistant will assist chief conductor Benjamin Goodson and guest conductor’s during
their rehearsal weeks with the GOK in Hilversum and their concert and opera productions (above all for the main broadcast series: NTR Saturday Matinee at The Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, AVROTROS Friday Evening Concert
in Tivoli Vredenburg, Utrecht, and Sunday Morning Concert at The Concertgebouw, Amsterdam).

An important part of the program is conducting the GOK in tutti and sectional rehearsals, with the aim that the
assistant conductor gets real hands-on experience working with a large-scale professional concert choir. The
total number of productions per season will be around 5 - 6 productions, agreed between the candidate and the
choir. There are also musical-administrative tasks, which while designed to support the work of the production
team and the chief conductor, also provide insights into the daily operations of a full-time ensemble.
