Performance Job
London Philharmonic Orchestra
Sub-Principal 4th Horn, playing 2nd as required.
The London Philharmonic Orchestra is seeking to appoint a Sub-Principal 4th Horn (playing 2nd as required). The successful candidate will play as required by orchestration and work in accordance with the Orchestra’s schedule.
Shortlisting will be based on redacted CVs. The panel may, however, request an extra submission of an audio-visual recording should they feel there is potential for further progression. We will contact you if you are required to do this. Recordings will be submitted via Musicalchairs and will be listened to anonymously by the panel.
Live auditions will be held on 11 and 12 January 2027 in London.
Successful candidates from the live audition round will be invited to undertake trial work with the orchestra on dates that can be mutually agreed upon; additionally, at the discretion of the panel, candidates may also be considered for future extra work with the orchestra.
Exceptional candidates may be invited to undertake some assessed guest work with the orchestra. All candidates will be required to do an audition, which can be scheduled during this guest work or on one of the audition dates listed above.
If you have any questions at any stage of the process, please contact Helen Phipps, Orchestra and Auditions Manager, at helen.phipps@lpo.org.uk. We also have a designated Panel Liaison, a member of the orchestra who is not part of the audition panel. To request their details, please contact Helen.
