Double Bass:

German XIX c. small 3/4

Price: £6500
A very comfortable small ¾ size German Bass, ideally suited for a soloist or someone of smaller stature. It has a warm and balanced tone throughout, and a sympathetic setup for its size. This bass has been expertly restored in collaboration with the Bass Place in London, including a neck graft and a new bass bar to ensure this antique instrument has modern-day playability, while the preserved old hat-pegs give this bass the appropriate age look and style. The back and ribs has little-to-none flame and the bass shows signs of natural ageing and use. The spruce front is of tight and even grain. All visible damage has been repaired and secured during restoration. The bass includes ebony fittings, an 8mm endpin rod and is fitted with Evah Pirazzi strings.
While in restoration, it was found to contain a hand written message in German dating to 1936.
