A characterful master instrument with a warm, resonant tone and expressive aesthetics. The original varnish shows a fine craquelure that lends the cello a distinguished patina. No soundpost or back cracks — only a few top-plate cracks that should be professionally repaired to fully unlock its potential.
Seen and judged by Roland Baumgartner in Basel. Very likely a genuine work from the Neuner & Hornsteiner workshop, a master instrument from Mittenwald (mid–late 19th century).
