Cello:
Sebastian Dalinger Cello - Vienna, 1777.
Price: CHF 21,500 (basis for negotiation)
Offered for sale based on a recent assessment and valuation by Roland Baumgartner, Grellingen, Switzerland (November 2024).
Measurements: 743 / 335 / 231 / 408 mm
The expert assessment (originally in German) notes:
The cello submitted to me for evaluation, bearing the original label ‘Sebastian Dalinger…’, is, in my opinion, a first-class work by this renowned Viennese master, designed in the style of Jacobus Stainer, with all essential parts belonging together.
Taking into account its condition, I estimate the value at CHF 35,000 in first-class restored condition. Restoration costs are estimated at CHF 12,000-15,000. In its current state, a value of CHF 20,000-23,000 is realistic.
Please see accompanying photos for the full assessment and detailed views of the instrument’s condition and craftsmanship.
You are very welcome to contact me with any questions or to arrange a viewing in Bern, Switzerland.
