6th Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition 2026

The 6th Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition will take place from 3 to 6 September 2026 in Birmingham (UK), in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO).
Founded in 2007, the Competition is dedicated to discovering and nurturing the next generation of talented conductors, offering them the privilege of working with world-class orchestras and supporting their artistic journey through exceptional visibility and prestigious partnerships.
The Competition receives an average of 350 applications per edition from more than 50 countries, selecting 18 participants for each edition. More than 80% of past participants have gone on to build international conducting careers.
In 2025, the Svetlanov Competition became a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC).
